Principal Chief John Red Eagle is to undergo a ‘small emergency surgery’ according to Assistant Principal Chief Scott BigHorse who asked for people to keep Red Eagle in their prayers during today’s Congressional Special Session.

BigHorse announced that Red Eagle is diabetic and that the surgery is related.

The Chief’s Office released a statement that said Red Eagle is indeed under a doctor’s care but the situation is not serious and the surgery will be an outpatient procedure.

“I personally visited with Chief Red Eagle this morning and he informed me that any treatment he is given is expected to be on an outpatient basis,” said Chris White, the executive director for governmental affairs. “He expects to be back at work within the next few days.

“I know that he appreciates everyone’s concern and prayers.”
