Osage Nation Head Start of Fairfax and Pawhuska joined in the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association fundraising events to support the “Win-Win” campaign against cancer. The fundraising efforts took place all over the state during the week of Sept. 13.
The children range in age from three to five-years-old but the staff at the nation’s head start programs feel it is never too early to teach children to be aware of the importance of helping others, according to a prepared release.
The students at the Fairfax head start facility walked in the community, asking local businesses to donate money. The students at Pawhuska visited several Osage tribal offices. The children collected nearly $500 and they donated it to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to help in their efforts to combat cancer, according to the release.
