On behalf of the Osage Nation Editorial Board, I am pleased to announce the board’s appointment of Tara McLain Manthey as a member. Manthey, an Osage tribal member, will serve a one-year term as mandated by amendments to the Osage Independent Press Act. Teresa Trumbly Lamsam completed her term as a board member this spring.
Manthey brings a wealth of experience to the editorial board, including more than eight years working as a professional journalist and four years working in the non-profit sector. She is now the Communications Director at Colorado Children’s Campaign in Denver, Colo. Manthey previously served on the Osage News Editorial Council, which provided guidance and support to the Osage News prior to the establishment of the current board in 2010. Manthey’s writing on the need for a free Osage press won an award from the Native American Journalists Association in 2010.
In welcoming Tara Manthey to our board, let me also express on the board’s behalf gratitude to Teresa Trumbly Lamsam for her service to our nation. Lamsam served on the Editorial Council and the Editorial Board since 2008.
