Construction is underway on Pawhuska’s McDonalds amid this month’s winter weather conditions. Local government and civic leaders held a groundbreaking ceremony for the fast food joint which will be on Pawhuska’s east side along U.S. Highway 60 immediately west of State Highway 99. According to the Bigheart Times, the restaurant is slated to open by March 1. The restaurant is being built on the land parcel between O’Reilly’s Auto Parts and Dollar General. The newspaper said the restaurant expects to employ 60 to 65 people. Job applications are available online at www.mcpawhuska.com. Low temperatures dropped to the single digits during the week of Jan. 9 while parts of Northeast Oklahoma received a few inches of snow during that weekend. The snowy weather prompted the Nation’s government offices to close Jan. 10 due to hazardous road conditions.
