As an Osage legislator, how would you vote if the Osage LLC asked for an appropriation of $1 million to $5 million to fund their operations or investments.

The Osage News asked the Osage 2012 candidates how they would vote if the Osage LLC asked for an appropriation of $1 million to $5 million to fund their operations or investments. This is the fourth in a series of questions that will be emailed to all candidates before Election Day as a part of our Osage News Weekly Roundup series.

We allowed the candidates up to 300 words to answer. Their answers are published in the order they were received. Candidates are not required to participate in the series.

I am pleased  to announce my candidacy for the Osage Nation Congress.  Over the last decade I have served as Director of the Osage Nation Roads Department and seen the potential of our Nation to overcome our differences.  Also, while serving on boards in the community, I have seen the potential for our Nation to work with the city, county and state.  This type of cooperation produces results that benefit all Osages, especially our elders and children.

The economic health of the Osage Nation is, and will continue to be, a top priority for six-year Osage Congressman and candidate Mark J. It has been my honor to serve as your representative to the Osage Nation Congress and I am pleased to announce my candidacy for reelection.  Over the past five and-a-half years, I have worked to promote laws that benefit the Osage people, to establish uniform processes for our government operations, and to expand and improve direct services to all my constituents. Three Osage Nation Congressional candidates file on day one; No one files on day two

Three Osages have filed their candidacy papers – thus far – for the 2012 General Election in which six Osage Nation Congressional seats are up for grabs.

On day two of the filing period, no Osages filed candidacy papers, according to the ON Election Office on March 16. The filing period stretches through April 2.

The day before, three candidates filed their papers by closing time. Berbon Hamilton was the first to file and later in the day Rosemary Shaw and John Maker did the same.

In accordance with the Osage Nation Constitution of which I swear to uphold and defend, I will encourage the current legislators’ and other sworn officials to comply with the Osage Nation Constitution and Osage Law as prescribed therein while enforcing recognition of the true Supreme Law of the land, the United States Constitution, to which we are bound.
