Two Huskies to play football at Haskell Indian Nations University

Jeremy Iron and Gene Big Soldier III sign letters of intent Feb. 7

Jeremy Iron and Gene Big Soldier III have officially signed away their Pawhuska orange for some Haskell purple.

On Feb. 7 at Pawhuska High School the two signed their letters of intent to play football at Haskell Indian Nations University.

“I’m pretty excited,” Iron said. “I’m ready to pad up. I miss not being in football pads, and football season, so when I get up there I’ll be itching to get back in.”

Big Soldier, a football player at heart, is also trying for an individual state title in wrestling this year for the Huskies

When Gene Big Solider III was three years old he hated wrestling, he lost often, pouted more, but never gave up once.

From his first wrestling match at 46 pounds to the end of his seventh-grade year he loss more times than he can remember, but he kept going back for more.
