Cougars are 4-1 so far; Next games scheduled Oct. 12

The Woodland Cougars scored their fourth win of the season against the Oaks Warriors, 46-6 on Oct. 5.

“It was one of those games where we went into it knowing we would probably win,” said Lane Brumley, Osage, Woodland football player. “Our main goal was to just focus on our fundamentals and do them right every play.”

Despite the 54-degree temperature when the game started, the Cougars were on fire scoring five touchdowns in the first quarter.

Hominy and Woodland also lose their Sept. 7 games

The Pawhuska Huskies lost their first home football game against the Dewey Bulldoggers, 53-13 on Sept. 7.

The Huskies scored a 95-yard touchdown in the first quarter but it was no match for the Bulldoggers who scored two touchdowns, 14-7.

Halfway through the second quarter the Bulldoggers scored two touchdowns within two minutes apart. The Huskies fought hard and with one minute to go in the second quarter scored their final touchdown of the night, 27-13.

Woodland, Hominy and Pawhuska begin their playoff season Nov. 11

Now that the regular football season is over the three Osage-fueled teams, Woodland, Hominy and Pawhuska, are gearing up for the playoffs.

Reigning Class A state champions, Woodland, finished the season with yet another undefeated regular season (9-0) but find themselves on the tough side of the playoff bracket for the second season in a row.

Hominy and Pawhuska faced some adversity in the regular season but are going into the post-season with a hopeful mentality.
