Osage elder Harry Red Eagle Jr. passes away at 90

Funeral services scheduled Wednesday in Hominy

Harry Red Eagle Jr. is known for his countless contributions to many Osage generations as a family man, cultural and spiritual mentor, language teacher, politician and friend. In the end, he earned respect, appreciation, countless friendships and became “Uncle Harry” to many of those who looked up to him.

Red Eagle, a lifelong resident of Hominy, passed away Saturday July 30 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. He was 90.

Osages to attend Hominy In-Lon-Schka this weekend

Osages will travel from all over the country to attend dances this weekend in Hominy Indian Village

Osages will be traveling from all over the country to attend the Hominy In-Lon-Schka dances this weekend. The dances begin at 3 p.m. June 9 and end Sunday evening June 12. No photography is allowed of the dance itself but the Osage News will be onhand to take photos before and after the dance. Look for the Osage News staff photos on the Osage News Photostream June 13.
