ON Congress passes $50,000 for land-into-trust application costs

Land-into-trust applications submitted for three casino properties. A fourth application needed for undeveloped land behind Tulsa casino

The Second Osage Nation Congress unanimously passed a supplemental appropriation bill allocating $50,000 for land-into-trust application and completion costs on Feb. 25 during the Sixth Special Session. These monies will be designated for the trust applications concerning the lands holding the Osage Million Dollar Elm Casinos in Tulsa, Skiatook and Ponca City.

Chief Red Eagle names Matthew Shunkamolah as interim Gaming Commissioner

Shunkamolah's interim appointment starts Dec. 13

Osage Nation Principal Chief John Red Eagle has named Matthew Shunkamolah as interim Gaming Commissioner for the tribe’s gaming enterprise.

Red Eagle made the announcement in a Dec. 2 executive message to the Second Osage Nation Congress and Speaker Jerri Jean Branstetter.

Shunkamolah’s gaming work experience includes serving as lead investigator and compliance officer for the Comanche Nation Gaming Commission in Lawton for a year, according to the tribe’s Web site.

Million Dollar Elm Casinos provide work experience through internships
















 The Osage Million Dollar Elm Casino sent out a press release recognizing two Osages who held internships with the casino operations during the summer months.

Dillon Moore, a Northeastern State University student, and Katy Laskey, a University of Kansas graduate, worked with casino officials after qualifying for internships offered through the Osage Nation Education Department, according to the release.
