Holiday recognizes anniversary of the 2006 tribal government; Celebratory dance to be held Friday night at Osage County Fairgrounds

The Osage Nation is celebrating Osage Sovereignty Day today (March 9).

The day pays homage to the reformed tribal government now entering its sixth year. The 2006 Osage Constitution was signed on March 11 that year.

A celebratory dance starts this afternoon at the Osage County Fairgrounds Ag Building (south of Pawhuska off State Highway 99).

All tribal government offices will be closed today and will reopen Monday March 12.

The 5th Annual Osage Nation Health Summit will be held Oct. 19, from 9-3 p.m. at the Osage County Fairgrounds. Lunch will be provided.

We are in the process of planning for our 5th Annual Osage Nation Health Summit. It will be held Oct. 19, from 9-3 p.m. at the Osage County Fairgrounds. Lunch will be provided. Osage County Board of Adjustments meeting Thursday Aug. 11 at 6 p.m.; Osages concerned about disturbances to environment, unmarked graves, Minerals Estate

Joe and Carol Conner describe the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve north of Pawhuska as one of the most pristine spots in the world.

During a sunny day’s drive on the Preserve’s unpaved road, the Conners take in the sunlight, grassy hilltop views and watch small buffalo herds walk across the grassland which hasn’t been developed or farmed on. “If this is not pristine, I don’t know what is,” Joe Conner (Osage) said.

Open house on the wind farm project scheduled July 28 in Pawhuska

A St. Louis-based energy company interested in building a wind farm in Osage County is holding a public meeting on Thursday July 28 at the Pawhuska Elks Lodge.

Wind Capital Group has filed an application to build the wind farm on prairie land west of Pawhuska, according to The Bigheart Times. The application for the 8,300 acre, 150-megawatt wind farm was filed with Osage County government officials on July 8.

Speaking at the event will be Osage Congressman Eddy Red Eagle, Frederick F. Drummond and others.

More than a 100 invitations have gone out to local, county and state officials inviting them to the Osage Nation's Day of Reconciliation and Unity.

As promised, Chief John Red Eagle is hosting the day to restore unity between the Nation and its neighbors, according to a prepared release. Guest speakers and a meal at noon are on the agenda. The day begins at 10 a.m. at the Osage County Fairgrounds in Pawhuska.
