Final deadline to request an absentee ballot from Election Office is May 15

Osages who plan to cast absentee ballots in this summer’s election should check the mailbox for the ballots starting next week.

Friday April 20 marks the first day that absentee ballots will be mailed out to voters who have already requested them from the Osage Nation Election Office.

As of April 20, the election office reports it has received 1,232 request forms for absentee ballots for the General Election on June 4. That figure is less than 140 shy of 2010’s request count.

March 15 marks the first day Osages can register to become official candidates for the Third Osage Nation Congress

Osage congressional hopefuls can now register to be official candidates for the 2012 Osage General Election June 4.

Berbon Hamilton was the first candidate to walk through the Osage Election Office doors this morning, said Delores Davis, election office staff. He was waiting for her to open the doors at 7:55 a.m. Hamilton will be just one of many that will put his hat in the ring for a seat on the Third Osage Nation Congress.

The candidacy-filing period begins today (March 15) and ends April 2.
