Commissioners will be up for ON Congress confirmation during Tzi-Zho Session starting Sept. 4

Five Osages will serve staggered terms on the Osage Tax Commission after being appointed by Principal Chief John Red Eagle.

On Aug. 9, Beverly Brownfield (three-year term), Teresa Rutherford (three-year term), Milton Labadie (two-year term), Bobby Walker (two-year term) and Roy Goad Jr. (one-year term) took oath of office at the Tax Commission office in Pawhuska.

The five commissioners will be subject to Osage Nation Congress confirmation for their terms. ON Trial Court Judge Marvin Stepson administered the oath of office.

Photo IDs cost $15 and require identification documentation

Osages of all ages now have an opportunity to have their own photo identification cards offered by the Osage Nation.

Osages in Osage County bought more than 200 cars in January

It’s pretty apparent on the streets of Pawhuska that a lot of people have bought new cars. When parking at the gas station, grocery store, retail stores, there are new car tags.

According to the Osage Nation Tax Commission, from the period of Nov. 30 to Jan. 5, 224 new cars were registered, including a Bentley. Yes, a Bentley, the luxury car hand manufactured in Crewe, England with a price tag starting at $200,000.

Tags to be sold by ON Tax Commission starting in October

The Osage Nation license plate is getting a brush-up and will bear the Osage language starting in October.

The landscape artwork on the Osage tribal tag’s bottom half will disappear to make room for the orthography symbols.

John Bighorse is one of three Osages now serving on the school board

The Pawhuska school board had five applicants to fill the vacancy created by the death of Dr. Mike Priest, and after meeting behind closed doors Aug. 9, the remaining members made their choice: John Star Bighorse.

Bighorse, who works as an inspector the Osage Nation Tax Commission, will serve until Feb. 8 of 2011, when Priest's term would have expired.
