Osage college professor writes book on the Osage government reform process

Roundtable discussion with author Jean Dennison and Osage Government Reform Commission members scheduled Sept. 29 at Constantine Theater in Pawhuska

An Osage college professor penned a book on the Osage Nation’s reformed government process. Now the history on the 2006 government reform process will be available for readers interested in learning of the complexities taken on by the Osage Government Reform Commission charged with conceiving, creating and implementing the new Constitution.

Osage Elections: a retrospective

By then, three Osage political parties had taken root in our tribe.

As a young person attending Osage elections, many young Osages walked the Osage Agency grounds on the hill, seeing other young people. It looked then very much like it does today, with Election Day Camps. It could have been during an election when I first climbed, up and down, the stairs that reach from Kihekah Avenue to the Agency Grounds.

Osage elder Harry Red Eagle Jr. passes away at 90

Funeral services scheduled Wednesday in Hominy

Harry Red Eagle Jr. is known for his countless contributions to many Osage generations as a family man, cultural and spiritual mentor, language teacher, politician and friend. In the end, he earned respect, appreciation, countless friendships and became “Uncle Harry” to many of those who looked up to him.

Red Eagle, a lifelong resident of Hominy, passed away Saturday July 30 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. He was 90.

Osage oil lease sale nets $864,940 at Oil and Gas Summit

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

TULSA, Okla. – More than $860,000 was raised during the oil and gas lease sales auction Oct. 27 at the 10th Annual Osage Oil and Gas Summit and Prospect Expo.

Wednesday’s sale is the highest lease sale the Osage Mineral’s Council has had in four years.
