Committee meetings seek to update CFRs regarding the Osage Minerals Estate; September meetings to be held in Tulsa

The Osage Minerals Council’s Negotiated Rulemaking Committee is hosting two open meetings on Sept. 27 and 28 in Tulsa.

The committee is meeting with the Bureau of Indian Affairs in a series of planned meetings to update the Code of Federal Regulations concerning the Osage Minerals Estate. More committee meetings are planned for October and November.

Osages in Osage County bought more than 200 cars in January

It’s pretty apparent on the streets of Pawhuska that a lot of people have bought new cars. When parking at the gas station, grocery store, retail stores, there are new car tags.

According to the Osage Nation Tax Commission, from the period of Nov. 30 to Jan. 5, 224 new cars were registered, including a Bentley. Yes, a Bentley, the luxury car hand manufactured in Crewe, England with a price tag starting at $200,000.

Osage Holiday Gala planned for Dec. 10 at Osage Event Center is $200 a ticket

An Osage Holiday Gala hosted by a group of Osage citizens to help raise money to benefit Osage Youth and the Osage Tribal Museum will be held on Dec. 10 at the Osage Casino Events Center in Tulsa.

The Osage Tribal Museum, The Osage Foundation, the Notah Begay III Foundation and the Nike N7 Fund will all benefit from funds raised at the gala. The money raised for the foundations and fund will essentially benefit the Osage youth.

Ticket prices are set at $200 a plate and $10,000 for a premium table of 10 that includes a VIP Reception at the host hotel.

Entities have come calling after news of Osage Trust Case Settlement spreads

Some Osages were surprised when they received a letter in the mail from a car dealership with an exclusive offer for down payment assistance Nov. 14.

The mailing came from Barry Sanders Supercenter in Stillwater and offered “special discounts” to Osage tribal members for a limited time. The letter said Osages need not worry about poor credit scores because, “funds have been allocated specifically for this event.”

Osage shareholders receiving money awarded from the landmark Osage Trust Case Settlement will have a multitude of options for handling their money, including spending it for Christmas, paying bills or investing for the future.

Osages considering investing the settlement would be wise to research the various tools used to invest money.

Payout will be $155,136 per full share

The Osage Trust Case Settlement disbursement date has been moved up. 

According to the Office of the Special Trustee, the settlement disbursement date is no longer Dec. 5, it has been moved up to Nov. 28.

On Nov. 14 the United States will deposit $345 million in the Tribal Trust Account and the money will be disbursed to all shareholders of the Osage Minerals Estate Nov. 28, whether they are Osage, non-Osage, or entities. The payout will be $155,136 per full share.

Osage collection contains wide spectrum of objects, from textiles to culturally sensitive items

SUITLAND, Md. – Within the Cultural Resources Center of the National Museum of the American Indian are some of the most rare and precious of Native American artifacts.

Within its vast collection is textiles, pottery, beadwork, yarn work, ribbonwork, spiritual items, blankets, hides, canoes, culturally sensitive objects, the list goes on and on.

An Osage Delegation, in Washington, D.C., to sign the historic Osage Trust Case Settlement with U.S. Department of Interior officials Oct. 21, was invited to view the CRC’s Osage collection on Oct. 20.

Wilson Pipestem lauds Trust Team members for their work

WASHINGTON – The Oct. 21 ceremonial signing of the $380 million Osage Trust Settlement came to a poignant end with words of gratitude, praise and a few tears shed among those involved in reaching the settlement with the federal government.

More than 50 people joined the Osage Trust Team and their attorneys who represented the elected Osage leaders and shareholders for a reception at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian after the signing ceremony that morning at the Department of Interior headquarters.

The OST will host a Financial Literacy workshop at the Wah Zha Zhi Cultural Center Nov. 19, from 9 a.m. to noon.

The Office of the Special Trustee will be holding workshops on Financial Literacy for Osage Shareholders. Osage shareholders will be receiving a settlement payout Dec. 5 and these workshops are aimed at helping those better invest their disbursement. Office of Special Trustee to hold three more workshops in Pawhuska

The Office of the Special Trustee is holding Financial Literacy workshops to help Osage shareholders prepare for the Osage Trust Case Settlement payout Dec. 5.

The first workshop was held Oct. 24 at the Wah Zha Zhi Cultural Center. Eight people attended. The workshops are designed specifically for Osage shareholders, said Brian Ross, OST Fiduciary Trust Officer.

“I customized a lot of information for the settlement audience,” Ross said.

Osage delegation attends signing ceremony of Osage Trust Case settlement at the Department of Interior headquarters

WASHINGTON – The Osage Trust Team sat down with U.S. Department of Interior officials Oct. 21 and signed the $380 million settlement agreement for decades of mismanagement of the Osage Minerals Estate.

The signing of the settlement closes the litigation chapter involving the mismanagement of the Osage minerals estate and opens a new one, filled of prosperity and new relations with the U.S. Government, said Osage Minerals Council Chairman Galen Crum.
