The Osage Minerals Council has selected three members to be the OMC’s representation on the Nation’s five-member Trust Team

The Osage Minerals Council has selected three members to be the OMC’s representation on the Nation’s five-member Trust Team. The trust team is made up of three OMC members, the principal chief and the speaker of the congress.

Dudley Whitehorn, Galen Crum and Cynthia Boone were unanimously voted in by the eight-member OMC July 21, and Whitehorn was voted to be the trust team chairman. They will join Principal Chief John Red Eagle and Speaker of the Congress Jerri Jean Branstetter.

Inaugurations to be broadcast live on osagetribe.com. Inauguration begins at 10 a.m. at the WahZhaZhi Cultural Center

All Osages are invited to attend the Inauguration for Principal Chief John D. Red Eagle and Assistant Principal Chief Scott N. BigHorse at 10 a.m., at the Wah-Zha-Zhi Cultural Center, 1449 W. Main in Pawhuska. A lunch will follow.

The inauguration will be broadcast live on the Nation's Web site, osagetribe.com.

According to the Osage Constitution, the authority of the Principal Chief and Assistant Principal Chief will be transferred to Red Eagle and BigHorse as soon as they are sworn in.

Osages looking for an inexpensive education can stop looking. A memorandum of understanding between the Osage Nation and the Pawnee Nation College is geared at educating tribal members and employees to spur leadership and community development.

“The word’s getting out about us,” said PNC faculty member Andrew Gray, who teaches treaty courses at the two-year college, along with other American Indian Studies courses. “We put an emphasis on Native Americans in history, math and English to infuse tradition of thought into curriculum.”
